Service avoidance (CAT & Genny)

This course will benefit all personnel from operative to senior manager level involved in work in the construction and maintenance industries in the UK. The course will teach the basics of underground service avoidance using standard industry equipment and best practices.

By the end of the course the delegates will be able to:

• Read and understand utility drawings.
• Use a Cable Avoidance Tool (CAT) and Signal Generator (Genny)
• Understand the difficulties associated with underground service avoidance
• Identify the risks and hazardous associated with underground service avoidance.
• Better protect themselves and others involved in their work.

Normally this course is half-day, however, for larger groups or for those that require a more in depth course we recommend a full day. Like all Risk Compliance courses, Service Avoidance is a mix of theory and practical exercises.
